In my practice, the very gesture of washing is important. A gesture of protest showed something that was not visible before. Reproduction, labor, care. Then she became visible. I want to show this care, washing.
Art was something I started to explore when I was very young. I remember creating elaborate cut-out paper planes and painted "lamps" made out of cutting styrofoam. I loved creating so much that I remember joining an art competition as a child. My mom bought my first canvas and paint set. I painted this horrible-looking bridge with grass on each side and water running under it. I did not win at all, but it was fun, and I loved how it made me feel.
Thanks for having me. Well, my name is Hagen Meinke. I was born and raised in the former eastern part of Germany in a fairly small but beautiful place called Prenzlau. I do not really remember when I first came in touch with any form of art. But when I did – I fell in love with graffiti. I started "writing" (this is the term for painting graffiti as you write letters basically) when I was maybe 14 to 15 years old. I started vandalizing trains, walls, etc. My affination for fine arts came a bit later. Like in my 20s.
Haze Gallery is now pleased to present you The Concept of Authenticity: A Group Exhibition of Figurative Art, an exhibition of the new epoch of emerging international contemporary figurative art at its Schoneberger address from 05 – 25 June 2021.
I am a full-time conceptual artist living and working in London. My work is developed from the materiality of colour. Employing a diverse range of media, I seek to visualise colour as matter and energy through a systematic exploration of colour systems. My aim is not to represent my own emotions, but to set up combinations that are objectively and conceptually grounded, yet draw viewers into a meditative state through which they generate their responses.
Dear HAZEGALLERY, I feel honored for the invitation! Since my childhood, I had a passion for art and tried out different mediums. Painting is the most beautiful medium in which I can express my art and surrealism helps me to translate my messages. I’m highly interested in
self-development and therefore my works are also focused on this topic.
Hoi hallo, Jalinka here! Thank you so much for having me. I feel honored to be included in such a wonderful Gallery & with such incredible people. I respect all the pro-active work/ projects that Irina & her team do to encourage and teach artists and art lovers, really amazing! My art path was already there from when I was born. I was constantly drawing and writing, performing and singing, and making bizarre and unique booklets with friends.
I created MINIMAN because I needed a short, strong name that is easy to remember for my Master thesis where I created an alter-ego identity construction of a rapper – since my Master thesis was about identity construction. I created the name MINIMAN in one hour. It came very quickly in a creative intuition and inspiration session. After the feedback was so positive and the music project was so successful I kept the name and used it for all my art as an alter-ego.
