STATEMENT

 

At the core of my artistic practice lies an exploration of concepts such as fate, predestination, and the role of the individual within larger historical processes.

In my search, I turn to religion, science, literature, and sometimes random stories as a system of clues. Much like Borges's hero gazing at the spots on a jaguar's pelt in search of truth, I look for these "little keys" everywhere I can reach, trying to assemble them into a unified worldview that resembles a coherent system.

This search inevitably leads me to the question of the human being itself, and one's duty in the face of history and the universe: To what extent are we free to shape our own lives, and to what degree are we part of a design independent of our will? Or perhaps dependent on it. And does that design—and those keys to it—even exist?

And is the search itself necessary, or is it a great sin—or maybe one can simply chance upon it, like fortune-telling during Christmastide.
